The parent-dogs must have a pedigree and ellbows and hips must be examined and proven to be according to the breedingregulations. Also needed is succeeding a charactertest and a breedsuitability-test with an endurance-test and an official showresult.
The SKG only knows one kind of pedigree. These are recognised by the FCI.
Numbers.
The numbers of Rottweilers in Switzerland amounts to approx. 3000 dogs.

Breedingregulations.
See above - pedigrees.
All of our breeders must obey strict breedingregulations to obtain the pedigree of the SKG, the only Swiss pedigree that is recognised by the FCI. The dogs must be at least 18 months and must have succeeded a charactertest and a breedsuitability-test.
Activities.
The Swiss Rottweiler Club SRC organises charactertests and breedsuitability-tests for which the apt judges are invited. On a regulary basis, international dogshows are judged by its judges and all its boardmembers and its breedwarden are available for advise and help. Every year in the spring, a "week of the dog" is organised by the SRC. As a breed-club of the national kennelclub SKG, we organise a work-trial in the spring and a Swiss-championship trial for Rottweilers in autumn.
All interested can join one of our regional sport-clubs. We recognise the Rottweiler to be a working-breed and promote the use of the Rottweiler in the dogsport. We train our dogs in BH, IPO, Sch. H., F.H. and Rescue-dog.
A highlight for us was the organisation and hosting in Switzerland in september 1993 of the I.F.R.-activities, consisting of a worldchampionship, a show and a congress.
Championtitles.
We know championtitles in the disciplines of BH 3, VPG 3, SanH3, FH3-97 and IPO 3
To obtain the title, the dog must win our autumn champion-trial with a score of at least 70 %
Dogrelated legislation.
We have a Federal Law and most Cantons have separate dog-related regulations.
2 Cantons do not allow to own / have Rottweilers (Genf, Wallis)
The Federal Law stipulates that for each dog the handler must follow 4 hours practical dog training by a licenced trainer. New dog handlers must in addition follow 4 hours instruction related to dog handling in a modern socity. The law is rigorously enforced.
