Breeding-regulations:
Breeding regulation for the rottweiler breed in Latvia are set and managed by Latvian Rottweiler Club in accordance to superceeding recommendations and rules by LKF and FCI.
Breeding restrictions pose a ban on breeding of rottweilers who fall in any of the groups below:
- dogs without pedigree issued or recognized by FCI
- female dogs younger than 18 month or older than 8 years on the date of mating or male dogs younger than 24 month on the date of mating
- dogs without HD examination proving qualifying HD results (i.e. A, B, C)
- dogs with breeding stop recommendation issued by Latvian Rottweiler Club
General requirements for dog to be admitted to breeding:
- two qualifying show critiques (at least one V or two SG for female dogs, two V for male dogs)
- qualifying HD test results (since 1997 HD: A, B, C and ED – 0, 1 required)
- qualifying training certificates (national VAP program or Ztp, BH, IPO)
Litter control:
both parents and all puppies have to bear controllable ID (since 1993 – tattoo or for show dogs – microchip and registration in national database)
- litter to be reported to the Club within 10 days from birth
- litter will be inspected at the kennel by experts appointed by the Club
