The only condition to obtain a pedigree is the registration of the pups and of course the parents having a pedigree.

A distinction is made between the full registration of dogs that may be bred and the issue of non-breeding papers for the dogs that are not meant to breed.     The distinction is made by the breeder himself.

The total number of Rottweilers living in Canada is unknown even not approximately.

Breedingregulations.

All breedingdogs must have a hipcertification while it is recommended that the breeders should also test for ellbows, heart, eyes, thyroid and vWD.

The club does not organise tests like the ZtP or other breedsuitability tests that the dogs should succeed before being allowed to breed.

Dogrelated legislation.

Canada does not have a national dogrelated legislation but does know local regulations that vary from community to community.

Activities.

The Rottweiler Club of Canada sanctions trials for Sch.H., obedience, agility and herding.     This happens according to the CKC rules and regulations.

The calendar of these activities can be found on : www.rottclub.ca/events.html

National titles and clubtitles.

The Rottweiler Club of Canada works with two other clubs, rotating the title of Canadian National Sieger/Siegerin.   She also hosts specialities, awarding Best in Specialty Show honors (BISS) and Awards of Merit (AOM).  She also offers Hall of Fame, Versatility and Production awards (www.rottclub.ca/awards.html) and Top Ten awards for conformation and obedience.

To be awarded the national CKC Championship, the dog needs 10 points earned under three different judges.  Points accumulated by defeating competition at breed and group levels.
