The
only condition to obtain a pedigree is the registration of the pups and of
course the parents having a pedigree.
A
distinction is made between the full registration of dogs that may be
bred and the issue of non-breeding papers for the dogs that are not
meant to breed. The distinction is made by the
breeder himself.
Numbers.
The total number of
Rottweilers living in Canada is unknown even not approximately.

The clubmembers breed
approximately 100-200 puppies
a year.
Littercontrols.
The
club does not organise
littercontrols.
Breedingregulations.
All
breedingdogs must have a hipcertification while it is recommended that
the breeders should also test for ellbows, heart, eyes, thyroid and vWD.
The
club does not organise tests like the ZtP or other breedsuitability
tests that the dogs should succeed before being allowed to breed.
Dogrelated legislation.
Canada
does not have a national dogrelated legislation but does know local
regulations that vary from community to community.
Activities.
The
Rottweiler Club of Canada sanctions trials for Sch.H., obedience,
agility and herding. This happens according to
the CKC rules and regulations.

National titles and clubtitles.
The
Rottweiler Club of Canada works with two other clubs, rotating the title
of Canadian National Sieger/Siegerin. She also hosts
specialities, awarding
Best in Specialty Show honors (BISS) and Awards of Merit
(AOM). She also offers Hall of Fame,
Versatility and Production awards (www.rottclub.ca/awards.html)
and Top Ten awards for conformation and obedience.
To
be awarded the national CKC
Championship, the dog needs 10 points earned under three different judges.
Points accumulated by defeating competition at breed and group levels.
